New Education Professionals Orientation: Part 1 Tuesday, May 4, 2021;  01:00 PM-05:00 PM

This two-part workshop is designed for ABC chapter staff hired during this past year in the areas of education and workforce development. This orientation will provide attendees with the skills necessary to respond to the challenges and opportunities faced by education professionals, including working with external stakeholders, growing your programs, managing instructors and leading a successful chapter education program. Attendees will work together to cover topics relevant to their education efforts and build a network of peers to collaborate with throughout their tenure at ABC.

Defining Merit Shop, How it Has Formed ABC and Why it is a Driver for the Organization Wednesday, May 5, 2021;  02:30 PM-05:00 PM

 At the end of the session, participants will be able to summarize the merit shop philosophy and how it provides a unique value proposition for ABC, compare ABC’s merit shop-based policy stances with those of other construction and business-related trade associations, and explain why ABC takes certain policy stances to defend the merit shop philosophy and free enterprise.

In this session, you will learn what effective virtual instruction looks like, so that you can help your instructors reach that level of excellence. You will also gain important tips like what equipment they need, how to manage within the industry regulations and standards to ensure students are learning what they need to know, and how to extend learning beyond a computer.
